After a recent round of theme and plugin updates we found Time.ly’s All-in-One Event Calendar looking very strange. It wasn’t really a Calendar – it was more of a long list of text and images.
[I know – I should have made a screenshot of this]
There was an error in the Dashboard:
[yes, I removed the hyperlink, because the link in the error message went nowhere! Eek! 404!]
“All-in-One Event Calendar: CSS compilation failed because you don’t have enough free memory (a minimum of 24M is needed). Your calendar will not render or function properly without CSS. Please read this article to learn how to increase your PHP memory limit.”
The first thing to try, of course, if to look for plugin and/or theme incompatibilities – nothing. Most of the recommended solutions on forums included increasing allotted memory by adjusting the .htaccess and/or php.ini files, but those didn’t help either.
Until I found the suggestion that saving the Theme Options would “re-process” the CSS by going to Events > Theme Options > Save Options.
[some people suggested to use the”Reset To Defaults”, but in my case merely re-saving the settings worked too]
That worked like a charm, and the Calendar looks great again!
All that was left was to click the “Got it – dismiss this” button from the error message >> all problems solved.
What will be next? 😉
